Do you want to play a key role in an organisation which stands up for children? Join us as Partnership Lead in our Belfast office and work closely with our early years partners, educational professionals and community partnerships to collaboratively address the impact of poverty on children’s early learning and development. 

Every child has the right to have their basic needs met, and to receive the support to ensure they can reach their full potential. The greatest barrier to this in the UK is poverty and inequality. 

Our UK mission is to make a sustainable reduction in the number of children growing up in poverty, and to narrow the learning gap between those children and their better-off peers.  

We believe this future is possible. It requires more money to be put back into the pockets of parents and carers, decent jobs, more opportunities for young children to play and learn, and policies and services which centre children and families’ needs, reduce discrimination, and that are designed to help children to flourish by preventing difficulties at the earliest possible stage: in pregnancy, at birth, in the crucial first 1,001 days of life and throughout childhood.

We work closely with the communities we aim to support. We recognise their diversity and strengths as well as the challenges they face, and we aim to reflect their diversity and experiences in our UK staff team.

As Partnership Lead you will work with local communities and partners to generate the learning and evidence required to fulfil the national change strategy. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of our early years and child poverty work, including programme and project management, support for high impact implementation and training delivery. You’ll build strong relationships with children and families, engaging them in the development of local partnerships and national campaigns, and ensuring that our work promotes and reflects their voices and experiences. You will support influencing for local and national change, as well as developing relationships with donors. In addition you will:


  • Provide coordination and management to local partnerships, including working from and as part of the local partnership
  • Develop plans and ensure that work undertaken generates the learning and evidence required, drawing on the expertise of the Early Years team and working as part of (virtual) teams
  • Support work on innovation and practice development, helping facilitate partner engagement in this work
  • Carry out data, research and evaluation tasks to support the generation of the evidence and learning required to fulfil the national change strategy


To be successful you will be a creative, solutions-focused team player with good knowledge and experience of the early years and the children’s sector. You’ll have excellent programme and project management skills, with a good understanding of early child development and broad knowledge of the evidence about effective approaches. Capable of building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders, you will have a good understanding of the impact of poverty on children, families and neighbourhoods and the barriers that communities face in seeking to bring about positive change. Additionally, you will have:

  • Experience of early years programme approaches
  • Experience of training delivery – programmatic and broader improvement work.
  • Experience in engaging children and families and supporting them to share their experiences, and of co- developing approaches with practitioners, children and families
  • Experience of developing or supporting monitoring and evaluation activity
  • A strong understanding of systems change theory and approaches
